Visy Recycling is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to take ownership of maintenance operations at our Smithfield Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) - one of the most critical recycling sites in NSW.
More than 75% of Greater Sydney’s materials and over 50% of NSW recyclable material passes through this site. With 200+ conveyors, optical sorters, screens and balers, this is a complex, high-throughput environment that relies on strong maintenance leadership to operate safely and reliably.
This is a hands-on, visible leadership role where you’ll work closely with a small but highly capable maintenance team, ensuring preventative and corrective maintenance programs are delivered effectively in a 24/5 operating environment.
What you'll do:
- Take full ownership of maintenance systems, schedules and execution
- Lead and support a small on-site maintenance team in a hands-on manner
- Plan preventative and corrective maintenance to maximise plant uptime
- Ensure critical spare parts availability and effective job planning
- Maintain strong safety standards across all maintenance activities
- Monitor performance and adjust maintenance priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Work closely with production teams to coordinate shutdowns and daily maintenance tasks
What You Will Bring:
- Either a Mechanical Engineering qualification or trade qualification (Fitter / Boilermaker)
- Proven experience in maintenance leadership (Ideally at a Manager level, though significant experience at Supervisor level will also be considered)
- Background in recycling, manufacturing, or other materials-handling environments
- Strong safety focus and ability to work in a demanding, industrial environment
- Practical, team-oriented leadership style with strong communication skills
