Role details:

We’re seeking a Mechanical Technician to join our team, working on our can seaming machines at our Shepparton Cans Plant. This is a full-time permanent role on a day shift, working 7am – 3pm.

 

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Shift Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our plant running smoothly and safely.

  • Preparing machine / can size change overs, including preparation of change over parts and coordination and maintenance of returning parts.
  • Optimising and fine-tuning of double seam can closing machinery, to ensure optimal performance and quality standards.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing Zacmi made can closers, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal efficiency.
  • Working to liaise between Production and Maintenance to improve production and decrease time required for can size change overs.
  • Assisting with training of other team members as required.
  • Maintain safe work and operating practices, and a high level of housekeeping.

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical, highly desirable but not essential.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics for effective problem-solving.
  • Experience within Can making or double seeming experience highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in a canning or high-speed environment also highly regarded.
  • Confident in working with hand tools and to fine detail when setting up machinery.
  • The ability to work under pressure and display a good eye for detail particularly in quality control.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and adherence to regulatory standards, fostering a culture of workplace safety and compliance within the team.
