Join one of Australia's leading kraft paper making plants where you'll apply your chemical engineering expertise to optimise and improve our Chemical Recovery Plant. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will take ownership of recovery process performance across key assets including recovery boilers, evaporators, recausticising and utilities systems. Working closely with operations, maintenance and projects teams, you'll solve complex process challenges, improve reliability and efficiency, and deliver measurable results in a high-investment, technically advanced manufacturing environment.

What you'll do:

• Monitor and optimise chemical recovery plant performance, focusing on safety, reliability, efficiency and cost
• Investigate process issues and lead root cause analysis to improve plant stability and performance
• Support optimisation of energy, steam, water and chemical balances across the site
• Lead operational trials, process changes and continuous improvement initiatives
• Support and deliver capital projects relating to chemical recovery and utilities systems
• Partner with operations and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and operating performance
• Drive best practice operating standards and process control improvements

What You Will Bring:

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar
• 8+ years' experience in process engineering within heavy industry or manufacturing
• Strong experience within chemical recovery, utilities, evaporator, boiler, energy, sugar, pulp and paper, or similar continuous process environments
• Hands-on experience working with recovery boilers, power boilers, evaporators, steam generation, chemical processing or related large-scale process equipment
• Strong process troubleshooting, optimisation and continuous improvement capability
• Experience balancing production, reliability, cost and environmental objectives
• Ability to lead initiatives and influence outcomes across multiple stakeholder groups
• A proactive, self-driven approach with a focus on safety, operational excellence and results
• Strong communication skills working with both technical and operational teams

Candidates from pulp milling, sugar milling, alumina refining, chemical manufacturing, power generation, mining and other evaporator/boiler-based processing operations are strongly encouraged to apply.
