Role Details:

Based in Auckland and reporting to the MES Automation Lead, you'll play a key role in developing the systems that support Visy's factory automation and data capture capabilities. Working closely with Operations, Quality and IT teams, you'll design, build and optimise database-driven solutions that improve manufacturing performance and support Visy's ongoing digital transformation.

What you'll do:

• Build, maintain, and enhance critical manufacturing systems that support Visy's New Zealand operations.
• Design and develop scalable database solutions and system integrations using enterprise database technologies such as Sybase, MariaDB, and Oracle.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain database programming components, including stored procedures, triggers, functions, and complex SQL queries.
• Utilize scripting and programming languages such as Shell Scripting, Python, Perl, and PHP to support automation, integrations, and application development.
• Collaborate with a high-performing team to deliver innovative solutions that drive operational efficiency and business value.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing applications, database performance, and data-driven business processes.

What you’ll bring:

• Strong experience delivering and supporting manufacturing applications, automation solutions and plant-floor systems in a complex operational environment.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, including production, quality, product traceability and warehouse operations.
• Proven ability to analyse business processes, identify improvement opportunities and implement practical, value-driven solutions.
• Hands-on experience working with enterprise databases, including Sybase, MariaDB and Oracle.
• Experience developing middleware and integration solutions using scripting languages such as Python, PERL, PHP and Shell scripting.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across Operations, Quality and IT teams.
• Build and enhance critical manufacturing systems used across Visy's Australia and New Zealand operations.
