About the role:

Visy Logistics is entering a significant growth phase, driven by a major new national transport partnership with a leading Australian steel manufacturer. As we expand our construction and steel logistics capability across Australia, we’re investing in strong operational leadership to deliver safe, reliable and high-performing supply chain logistics.

We are seeking a commercially astute State Operations Manager to lead our Victorian construction logistics operations. Based at a key customer site in Laverton, this hands-on leadership role will oversee large-scale operations across Laverton and Sunshine and play a critical part in scaling our new national partnership.

You will be responsible for launching and leading a complex construction logistics supply chain across Victoria, embedding strong operational foundations, driving safety and service excellence and building a high-performing team across multiple sites. This is an opportunity to shape a growing division, deliver exceptional customer outcomes and make a genuine impact during a pivotal period of national expansion.

What You Will Do:

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Lead and manage daily operations across site services, fleet, drivers and logistics teams
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, CoR and regulatory standards
• Drive productivity, innovation and commercial improvement across every touchpoint
• Deliver exceptional customer service and industry-leading DIFOT results
• Manage budgets, forecasts and P&L performance with strong commercial discipline
• Build and nurture high-performing teams with a focus on safety, accountability and growth

What You Will Bring:

You’re a proven operations leader who thrives in building teams and delivering results. With deep 3PL and transport expertise, you know how to balance commercial, customer and compliance priorities in a fast-moving environment.

You’ll also bring:

• 3PL & Transport Expertise: Strong experience leading end to end transport, fleet and logistics operations.
• Leadership: A confident people leader who builds capability, drives accountability, and fosters a high-performance culture.
• Commercial Acumen: Ability to identify revenue and margin drivers, optimize fleet and labour utilization and balance operational efficiency with customer expectations.
• Financial Acumen: Proven experience managing P&L performance, budgets and forecasts, with strong cost control discipline and data-led reporting capability.
• Customer Engagement: Approachable and responsive, you build trusted relationships and ensure customers remain front-and-centre.
• Resilience & Agility: Calm under pressure, quick to adapt, and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment.
• Growth Mindset: Continuously seeking better ways of working, embracing technology and innovation to improve efficiency.
• Safety Leadership: Strong understanding of CoR, fatigue management, load restraint, and mass management; champions a safety-first culture.
• Systems Experience: Familiar with SAP, TMS and transport performance systems
• Industry Insight: Experience in steel or construction logistics highly regarded
