The Opportunity
Visy is seeking a dynamic and experienced Plant Manager to lead our high-performing plastics manufacturing site in Albany, New Zealand. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the site, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Reporting to the Head of Operations – Plastics, you’ll oversee all aspects of plant performance, including safety, production, maintenance, warehousing, customer service, and cost management. You’ll champion Lean principles and standardised systems to drive operational excellence and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a strong safety-first culture and ensure environmental compliance.
- Manage daily operations to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Coach and develop department leaders to build a high-performance, improvement-focused team.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Oversee budgets, cost control, and profit improvement plans to ensure financial success.
- Collaborate with commercial and NPD teams to meet customer needs and support growth.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and regulators.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven leadership in high-volume manufacturing, with a track record of delivering results.
- Experience managing full plant P&L, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
- Strong commercial acumen and decision-making skills.
- Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt preferred), and process improvement.
- Deep understanding of safety, quality, compliance, and environmental systems.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
