The opportunity:
As the Maintenance Planning Engineer reporting to the Reliability Manager, you’ll work in a full-time permanent role at our Visy Glass, Penrose Site. You will work closely with the Storeman, production and maintenance teams to lead initiatives in reducing plant downtime by identifying and preparing proactive maintenance activities.
Using your critical thinking and technical expertise, you’ll support the Maintenance Department by diagnosing failure before they occur, optimising planned maintenance, facilitating root cause analysis and driving solutions for ongoing reliability issues. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Forecasting and generating job plans, preparing work, and optimizing work efficiency.
- Support and mentor maintenance teams to achieve effective completion of work.
- Develop, implement, and improve preventative maintenance strategies.
- Conducting/Coordinating planning meetings.
- Running and distributing reports required for effective planning and scheduling.
- Optimise spare parts and maintenance planning using CMMS (MEX/SAP).
- Preparing minor and major shutdown plans for process areas.
- Promote a proactive safety culture within the team and with contractors.

What you will bring to the team:
Coming with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in maintenance planning, gained from working in an FMCG/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. A critical thinker with a strong background in maintenance engineering you’ll have an exceptional ability for analytical, process and continuous improvements (Lean). Along with the following:
- A Degree in Mechanical Engineering level 4 or equivalent.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Financial skills including estimating, budgeting, forecasting, analysis & reporting.
- Ability to analyse failure trends and implement practical solutions.
- A sound understanding of technical maintenance techniques.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage key stakeholders.
- Experience in shutdown and maintenance planning preferable.
- Experience with CMMS, SAP, MS project applications and Excel.
- A positive, proactive mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
