Role details
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will drive implementation of engineering best practice for our Pulp & Paper Mill to increase overall plant efficiency. You will utilise your understanding of engineering best practices with an aim to implement these at the mill, thus improving asset reliability and performance.
What you'll do
Reporting to the Mechanical Reliability & Maintenance Manager, you will:
- Develop proactive and preventative maintenance initiatives through implementation of engineering analysis of plant performance.
- Execute, design, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, facilities, components, products, and services for the Engineering department.
- Ensure disciplined focus on predictive and preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment.
- Investigate failures using Root Cause Analysis techniques, design and implement corrective and preventive solutions to eliminate the cause or to reduce the likelihood of failure.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory inspections on all pressure vessels / piping and safety valves, and ensure records are updated.
- Understand and adhere to all Visy management systems, policies and procedures, and other regularity body requirements.
This plant operates on a 24/7-day basis, and you will need to be flexible to work additional hours as required, including being on our call-out roster.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical) with minimum 3 years’ experience.
- Experience in 24/7 heavy manufacturing, materials handling, or processing environment experience.
- Strong analytical skills, a high level of initiative and the ability to work autonomously.
- Continuous improvement mindset, proactive problem solving with solution focused approach.
- CMMS experience.
