The Opportunity:

As Australia's leading manufacturer of Food Cans, Visy produces over 500 million cans annually, serving a wide range of industries.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for the effective utilization and coordination of manufacturing resources, including raw materials, labour, and production and maintenance facilities. Your strong communication skills and ability to understand people will be key to your success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion safety awareness and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and quality systems.
  • Lead the team to achieve objectives related to labour utilisation, compliance with EBA, payroll activities, safety, staff development, performance reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, housekeeping, production, service, quality, and cost control.
  • Actively participate in quality system audits, build effective relationships with customers to ensure client satisfaction, and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to meet quality and supply chain goals.
  • Develop and implement production and maintenance plans, maintain performance reports, and manage the introduction of new SKUs into the work area.

  • Monitor and control production and maintenance outputs, weekly KPIs, and labour costs. Ensure a thorough understanding of P&L and participate actively in the budgeting process.

What You Will Bring to the Team:

  • Extensive people management experience within a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and SAP, with additional advantage if experienced with maintenance systems.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach and the natural ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engineering or production qualifications and/or experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Strong financial aptitude, particularly in production budgeting (labour and spoilage).
