We are currently looking for a Process Engineer to join our team based in Visy Glass, Penrose. This is a full-time position, working 12-hour shifts on a rotating roster – 2 days/2 nights, 4 days off! The Process Engineers role is primarily a sole charge position with a high degree of responsibility. Reporting to the Batch and Furness Manager, you will work primarily in the Batch and Furnace area of our manufacturing operations and will play a critical role to production and will be responsible for maintaining homogenous glass supply to the forehearths.
This is a diverse role, ranging from operating the Batch House, to operating the 3 Furnaces, to monitoring Plant Services after hours. It’s a hands-on role, where you will need to attend breakdowns and use your problem-solving abilities to rectify issues. You will be trained on various pieces of equipment and control systems to do with our Batching and Furnace operation, however, there are multiple operating systems, so you will need to be adaptable and proficient in computers. In summary, your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Control and operation of the Batching process, from the Batch House to the Furnace.
- Control and operation of the furnaces and housekeeping around the furnaces.
- Monitoring and attending breakdowns of Plant services after hours and weekends.
- Assisting with colour change responsibilities and conduct colour checks on night shifts.
- Attending breakdowns and problem solving. Requesting assistance if required.
- Communicating with support departments internally, as well as external agencies such as the fire department and the Auckland Council.
- Maintain and ensure all Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
What you will bring to the team:
As our new Process Engineer, you will hold either a Mechanical/ Electrical Trade Certificate or equivalent. You will have some hands-on experience and be able to demonstrate your previous experience (minimum 4+ years), working within a manufacturing environment (medium or a heavy industrial environment experience will be highly regarded). You will have strong communication and problem-solving skills and need to be comfortable working by yourself and being self-motivated. The ability to work in a physically demanding and fast paced environment, along with a strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork and enjoy the challenges that this brings. The Process Engineers team is a small group of four, with a shared shift relief, so the successful candidate needs to be willing and be able to do overtime shifts & callouts
