Provide field service and technical support for both electrical and mechanical automation systems, including installations, maintenance, and repairs across diverse customer sites.
The Opportunity
Our Visy Automation team in Campbellfield is seeking a hands-on and motivated Field Service Technician to deliver on-site technical support for our packaging automation equipment. This role requires an A Grade Electrical Licence but will also suit candidates with strong mechanical aptitude or experience in mechatronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
You’ll support machine installations, conduct preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot a range of automated systems including robotics, PLCs, servo motors, conveyors, and drive systems.
Reporting to the Field Supervisor, you'll play a key role in ensuring machinery performance, uptime, and customer satisfaction across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and mechanical service, installation, and repair work on Visy Automation and third-party equipment.
- Troubleshoot and modify PLCs, touchscreen interfaces, robotics, and servo systems.
- Read and interpret AutoCAD circuit and mechanical diagrams; recommend system improvements.
- Deliver training to customer personnel on proper operation and maintenance procedures.
- Complete detailed service reports, including fault diagnostics and part recommendations.
- Work cross-functionally with engineers, suppliers, and customers to deliver effective outcomes.
- Adhere to all safety procedures across Visy and customer facilities.
What You Will Bring to the Team
- Current Victorian A Grade Electrical Licence (mandatory).
- 5+ years of field service or maintenance experience in manufacturing, packaging, automation, or similar environments.
- Strong mechanical background or mechanical trade/technical skills highly regarded.
- Experience with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron), robotics, servo drives, pneumatics or hydraulics.
- Excellent problem-solving ability, with strong communication and customer service skills.
- Flexibility to travel interstate (and occasionally internationally) as required.
Certifications & Licences
- Mandatory: A Grade Electrical Licence (Victoria), Working at Heights, Confined Space (or willingness to obtain).
- Desirable: ABB or other robotics experience, post-trade qualifications in mechanical, pneumatics or engineering.
