Due to an internal promotion, we are now recruiting for an experienced Glass Forming Specialist to join our dynamic team at our Penrose, Auckland location. This is a full time salaried permanent position working Monday – Friday 7.30am- 3.30pm

As a Glass Forming Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of glass forming machines. You will be responsible for manufacturing quality products whilst maintaining high productivity levels through continuous improvement.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the safety initiative in the department ensuring that all statutory and company safety and quality standards are implemented as appropriate and adhered to.
  • Ensure the production of high-quality glass products by adhering to strict specifications and quality standards.
  • Analyse glass forming faults to determine the root cause and implement corrective action with relevant managers.
  • Carry out production inspections and implement change to machine operation to improve product quality.
  • Collaborate and assist the Job Change department with the settle down of all job changes through appropriate adjustments to operating conditions
  • Work collaboratively across departments (both plant and non-plant) to influence quality, safety, productivity and people outcomes. 
  • Carry out production inspections and implement change to machine operation to improve product quality
  • Train and coach, the team regarding any changes introduced in order to meet required performance standards.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A minimum of 7 years in Glass container manufacturing operations, specifically in glass conditioning, furnace, forehearth and/or forming operations
  • Thorough understanding of the glass melting and conditioning process
  • Significant experience with Glass furnace colour changes in a forming or forehearth specialist capacity
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving root cause
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team player.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in manufacturing
