The Opportunity:
We currently have a great opportunity for a proactive, experienced and passionate Despatch Manager to join our team at Smithfield. Reporting to the State Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Despatch at the Smithfield Warehouse and leading a team of 12. You will be continuously looking to improve where you can, to drive efficiency, compliance, quality and control costs against the set budget to maximize business profitability.
Currently we are using a Manual Despatch System however, we will be transitioning to a Warehouse Management System.
What you will do:
- Initiate and drive a safe workplace including following all safety policies and regulations
- Management and co-ordinate Despatch and Contractors to achieve distribution KPI’s for the site (Safety/DIFOT/Quality/Sales/Volume/Freight Utilisation)
- Actively develop and upskill your team including identifying any cross training or development opportunities
- Management of stock and assets including maintenance
- Pallet control management and other assets [pallet tops]
- Develop improvement processes and ensure established processes are maintained to meet compliance and quality targets
- Ensure compliance and legislation around chain of responsibility is adhered to
What you will bring:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a leadership role within Supply Chain/Logistics role (preferably within the FMCG, Manufacturing or Processing industries)
- Experience across all despatch functions including allocating, scheduling, goods receipting, stock management, logistics management with 3PL including COR and Fatigue Management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP (advantageous)
- Strong organisation, attention to detail and able to think on your feet
- High communications skills to manage both internal and external relationships to drive DIFOT outcomes for our customers
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a focus on safety, customer service and innovation
- Good with reporting to increase and sustain the business’s profitability
