We are currently recruiting a Plant Manager for our Plastic site in Albany, NZ. This role is responsible for leading the safe, efficient and profitable operation of Visy’s plastics manufacturing site.
A strong focus of the role is the application of disciplined systems, standardised processes and continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to deliver operational excellence across safety, quality, production, maintenance, warehousing, customer service and cost management.
Reporting to the Head of Operations for Plastics, you will foster a proactive improvement culture, coaching teams to challenge the status quo, reduce waste, improve productivity, and increase customer satisfaction.
This role also works closely with commercial and NPD teams to ensure customer requirements are met and to support business growth through operational capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive safety and environmental compliance, leading a proactive risk and incident management culture.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and deliver against production targets and quality standards.
- Lead, coach and develop department managers and teams to drive a high-performance and CI-focused culture.
- Champion Lean principles and continuous improvement projects to drive performance and efficiency.
- Manage operating budgets, conversion costs and drive profit improvement plans (PIPs), and ensure cost control and commercial decisions support plant profitability.
- Engage with key stakeholders internally and externally including suppliers, regulatory bodies and customers.
What You Will Bring to the Team
- Extensive leadership in high-volume manufacturing operations, with a strong record of delivering operational efficiency and continuous improvement outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage full plant P&L, budgets, cost control and financial forecasting.
- Strong background in commercial decision-making to support profitability and customer service outcomes.
- Experience with process improvement, Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt preferred).
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, compliance, and environmental systems.
- Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
