Role details
This is a key role which offers tremendous growth through involvement. The successful incumbent possesses excellent communication and analytical skills, detail-orientated, and always aiming for the best performance.
Ideally you have experience with working on and developing final product quality management systems in a fast-paced Manufacturing, heavy industrial, FMCG, or highly processed environment where continuous improvement and lean manufacturing are a normal part of your everyday.
This position works closely with internal paper mill and Visy group-based operations, technical and logistics teams (both paper and board), to ensure our final paper product qualities meet customer requirements and that the process and quality systems ensure customer complaints and claims are resolved and prevented.
Daily interaction with the sales team is essential and interaction with customers directly is required from time to time. Confidence and professionalism will see you succeed in this highly interactive environment while strong administrative, data processing & analysis skills and background knowledge in paper and/or board manufacturing and quality will give you the edge to perform well.
This is a full time Monday to Friday (standard 37.5 working hours) with an on-call every 5 weeks for the technical team after-hours support for the Laboratory, Analytical online instruments, and Quality monitoring.
What you’ll do
- Monitoring & reporting on paper quality, quality non-conformances, quality audits & capability.
- Recommend & implement quality processing changes to prevent non-conformances.
- Review laboratory test results & liaise with laboratory team regarding any observations or requirements.
- Manage paper mill quality management system specifications & system improvements; investigate system issues.
- Management of paper complaints & claims, investigations and corrective actions with the support of the operations, technical and sales teams.
- Liaise with sales and customers and do potential customer site visits, inspections and recommendations to improve linerboard performance as required.
- Provide Customers as well as Sales with technical support, on request, which includes product compliance data, answering questionnaires and product sample requests.
- Manage and coordinate, together with stakeholders, the paper hold stocks & quarantine stocks decision making and volumes.
Your success will come from
- Your ability to work collaboratively, with internal stakeholders within the Operations Team to improve quality processes in the production environment, creating a culture of Continuous Improvement with regard to Quality, and improve the use of lead indicators for critical decision making.
- The strong relationships you establish with external stakeholders (customers and suppliers) to manage expectations and responses to quality incidents, collecting and analyzing critical data to enhance decision making and feedback to improve internal systems.
What you will bring
- Ideally you will have a Tertiary Qualification in Applied Science or equivalent
- Experience working in a Quality Co-Ordinator/Assurance role in paper or board making including paper testing or packaging or food and beverage industry (advantageous)
- Strong MS Excel or Data Analysis software capabilities
- Highly organised, task focused with strong administrative and technical report writing skills
- Knowledge and understanding AS4801 and ISO9001 standards, maintaining NCR database, CAR investigations and worked with QMS systems
- You will be analytical, and data driven, with a pro-active approach to identifying, investigating and root cause analysis solving problems.
- Able to work in a hot environment with stairs and confined spaces
- Team player with a focus on safety and continuous improvement
