Role Details:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our Spotswood Glass Plant. This is a dayshift role, working 35 hours per week on a 9-day fortnight. Working in the Mould Repair Department and reporting to the Mould Repair Manager, you will be responsible for repairing Glass Container moulding equipment to ensure Glass quality.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure that all company safety and quality standards are implemented and applied to all work performed.
  • Preparation of Mould hangers & componentry for Job Changeover process.
  • Cleaning & inspection of used die hangers
  • A variety of bench fitting duties to repair the hangers such as welding, filing, hand grinding and polishing
  • Milling and lathe repairs on a few interchangeable parts for glass moulding machinery
  • You will work with a variety of hand tools, gauges & measuring equipment
  • Help with the management of stock levels to ensure work continuity

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Fitter / machinist trade qualification with milling and lathe experience in an industrial environment, preferably an Engineering or Toolmaking workshop
  • Previous experience working in an industrial environment, preferably in manufacturing
  • Meticulous attention to detail and precision
  • Good hand eye coordination and ability to problem solve
  • Previous TIG / MIG welding, operating CNC machines, tool making, and stores and goods inwards experience an advantage
