Role Details
Visy Logistics is expanding its national construction and steel logistics capability, and we are looking for a hands-on Operations Supervisor to lead daily execution across our Laverton customer site.
Working 3pm to 12am, you’ll take ownership of afternoon transport and yard operations, coordinating drivers, fleet, subcontractors and schedules to deliver a safe, efficient and dependable operation.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced transport professional who enjoys being close to the operation, leading people and solving problems in a fast-moving logistics environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead afternoon transport and site operations, including driver supervision and fleet utilisation
- Coordinate company and subcontractor fleet to meet operational and customer requirements
- Support contract mobilisation, yard flow, processes and fleet readiness
- Manage driver rosters, performance and operational communications
- Oversee scheduling, manifests, loading activities and yard control across road and rail
- Maintain strong safety, Chain of Responsibility, regulatory and site compliance
- Support recruitment, onboarding and training of drivers and subcontractors
- Build strong relationships with customers, drivers and operational stakeholders
- Support incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions
- Provide operational reporting and assist with after-hours issues when required
What You'll Bring:
- Strong experience in transport, fleet supervision or logistics operations, with 3PL experience preferred
- Sound knowledge of safety, Chain of Responsibility, fatigue, load restraint and mass compliance
- Commercial understanding, including P&L performance and key cost and revenue drivers
- Ability to optimise fleet utilisation and manage operational costs
- Experience with TMS platforms such as MT Data or similar
- Good understanding of transport equipment and vehicle types
- Steel or construction logistics experience will be highly regarded
- Strong attention to detail across safety and compliance
- Confident communication skills across drivers, subcontractors, customers and stakeholders
- HC licence is desirable
