  • Lead a high‑performing production team at Visy’s flagship Laverton glass recycling site
  • Work with advanced processing technology in a complex, fast paced operation
  • Strong site leadership support, stable workforce and long term career opportunity

Visy Recycling is seeking an experienced and people-focused Production Manager to lead day to day operations at our Laverton Glass Recycling facility - one of the most sophisticated glass processing plants in the southern hemisphere and a flagship site within the Visy network.

This is a high impact, hands-on leadership role where the details matter. You’ll coordinate people, plant and process to consistently deliver safety, quality, yield and budget outcomes while leading from the front with your team.

What you will do:

Reporting to the Site Manager and forming part of the site leadership team, you will be accountable for the safe, efficient and profitable operation of the production function.

You will lead Shift Supervisors and operations teams across a variety of shifts, ensuring production plans, labour coverage and performance targets are met. This is not a desk based role - you’ll regularly be on the floor, troubleshooting issues, supporting the team and sometimes stepping directly into operational tasks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Championing a strong quality and safety culture, ensuring compliance with OH&S, Visy standards and EPA licence conditions
  • Coordinating production across all shifts to achieve throughput, yield, quality and budget targets
  • Labour planning, rostering and absentee coverage to ensure uninterrupted operations
  • Monitoring and managing operational KPIs, costs and performance outcomes
  • Leading root cause analysis, problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Working closely with Maintenance, Engineering and external vendors to support asset reliability and uptime
  • Maintaining a positive, accountable and high performance team culture

What you will bring:

Success in this role hinges as much on who you are as what you’ve done. You are a proactive, grounded and resilient leader who enjoys being close to the operation and the people. You notice the 1% that makes a difference, communicate clearly, and build trust through action.

You will bring:

  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing, processing or industrial environment
  • Strong safety leadership and risk awareness
  • Hands on operational mindset - comfortable getting dirty when needed
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to quickly understand complex plant and process flows
  • Confidence running labour plans, budgets and production KPIs
  • Strong problem solving skills (RCA, Lean, continuous improvement exposure beneficial)
  • High emotional intelligence, empathy and the ability to lead people through busy, demanding shifts

Experience in recycling or waste is not essential, but you must be comfortable in an industrial environment that can be noisy, busy and fast moving.

What you’ll love when you join us:

Sustainability: Play an integral role in the circular economy – bringing back yesterdays glass bottles and enabling new ones, all made in Melbourne
Supportive Environment: Be part of a team that values safety, respect, and collaboration.
Career Growth: Opportunities for further training and career advancement within the company

About Visy:

Visy is powering the circular economy, closing the loop between packaging, recycling and remanufacturing. We believe materials are not truly recycled until they’re made into something new - and it all starts with Visy Recycling. As Australia’s largest recycler, our extensive network of recycling operations is integrated with our manufacturing sites. We collect and sort recyclable materials like paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and metals from households and businesses, and locally remanufacture them back into new, sustainable packaging.
