This is a unique opportunity for a Graduate or early career Mechanical Engineer to step into a hands-on role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and gain exposure to how a large-scale paper mill operates day-to-day.
Working closely with both maintenance and production teams, you’ll play a key role in keeping operations moving smoothly while building a strong foundation in planning, coordination and stakeholder engagement. This role offers visibility across the site and the chance to develop practical skills that go beyond traditional graduate rotations.
Joining on a 12-month fixed-term basis, you’ll be supported through a structured handover and given the opportunity to make a genuine impact from day one, contributing to a team that values initiative, collaboration and continuous improvement.
What you'll do:
- Raise, manage and close work orders in the CMMS
- Prepare weekly maintenance plans and shutdown work lists
- Raise and track purchase requisitions and support purchasing processes
- Coordinate contractors and external service providers on site
- Liaise daily with production to ensure a safe and reliable operating mill
- Manage mechanical spares and support inventory control
- Monitor preventative maintenance schedules and ensure completion
- Assist in minimising downtime of plant and equipment
- Support workshop activities and general maintenance coordination
- Ensure adherence to OHS and Visy Pulp & Paper systems and procedures
What You Will Bring:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (recent graduate or up to approx. one year experience)
- Strong communication skills with confidence to engage, ask questions and escalate when needed
- Ability to work closely with production teams, understanding they are your key customer
- Strong organisation skills and adaptability, able to pivot and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Personable and team-oriented approach
- Real-world employment experience that demonstrates your adaptability, communication skills, high level of initiative, and ability to absorb information quickly
