Commercial Manager – Intermodal / VGF

Role Details:

In this newly created role, you will support profitable growth across Visy Logistics’ intermodal, freight forwarding and wharf‑cartage operations. Partnering closely with divisional General Managers, you will drive pricing, margin management and cost discipline to enable confident, data‑driven decisions.

Reporting to the Head of Finance & Commercial, you will lead commercial governance across the Intermodal and VGF divisions, overseeing pricing, costings and contract management. As a trusted advisor to the General Manager, you will provide commercial insight to support strategic planning, capital investment and long‑term commercial outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

• Partner with the General Manager to shape and execute commercial and financial strategy
• Lead pricing and revenue management, including rate governance, contracts and major tenders
• Drive cost optimisation and margin improvement in partnership with operations
• Evaluate capital investments and transformation initiatives through business cases and ROI analysis
• Build strong cross‑functional partnerships to support data‑driven decision‑making
• Lead and develop a high‑performing commercial team

What You Will Bring:

• Commercial experience within forwarding, wharf‑cartage or port‑based logistics
• Strong understanding of cost‑to‑serve, pricing and margin drivers across containerised freight and cartage
• Proven experience supporting tenders, contract negotiations and repricing programs
• Ability to partner with operations to balance service, cost and productivity outcomes
• Confidence influencing senior stakeholders with clear, evidence‑based insight
• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, Economics or related discipline (CPA / CA / MBA highly regarded)
• Strategic mindset with strong problem‑solving capability
• SAP and CargoWise experience desirable
